I’m looking to buy a desk for my new apartment. One of the things I told myself I’d do when I moved in is to wait on purchasing things and to make sure I love them before I spend money on them. I usually am an impulse shopper when I decide I need something. I usually just go into a store, find something that will do the job, is cheap but isn’t that nice looking and I’ll buy it. Which leaves me with an apartment full of furniture (usually more than I need) that doesn’t match, or look good.
With this new apartment I really want to get nice looking stuff. The desks I’m leaning toward are Mid-Century Modern (the style I tend to gravitate towards these days). These photos are of the style I’m hoping to get. Only problem is that I recently purchased 2 monitor stands from work ($5 each! and I’ve always wanted some) but the bad part is that they need a hole in the desk for the pole to go into and then you bolt it together. Not exactly what I’m looking to do on a desk like these. Oh well, I’ll keep looking and I’ll either find a desk with cable holes (something that wasn’t really an issue in the mid-century modern era) or I’ll find a beautiful desk and just keep my monitors on their stands.
I’m also buying a TV this weekend so I’m looking for a credenza or an entertainment center to put it on. I went to look at IKEA a few weeks ago and fell in love with the Trollsta but its $349 and I’m not sure if its worth it for a piece made from particle board. :/
